抗日战争（自1937年至1945年）期间，雄踞山西省的黄崖洞兵工厂，实为八路军不可或缺之军工基地。除却军械产出之功，黄崖洞更象征着基层民众的众志成城。豆蔻年华之学徒与巾帼工人，于逼仄隧洞内，劳作昼夜不息，轮值竟日，肩挑手扛沉重铁锭，全仗人力，而无机械可恃。
