AF568 mal ( Alexa Fluor 568 Maleimide ) is a composite fluorescent labeling reagent based on the covalent binding of Alexa Fluor 568 fluorescent dye and Maleimide group. Its core function is to form a stable thioether bond through the specific reaction of maleimide group with thiol-containing ( -SH ) biomolecules ( such as proteins, peptides ), so as to achieve fluorescence labeling, which is suitable for biomolecule tracking and fluorescence resonance energy transfer ( FRET ) research.
